Weekend Shopping

Hello! Today I have another little decent sized haul post, things that I purchased over the weekend and then today whilst out shopping. Most of these items are necessities or thing's that I'd run out of.

Lately my hair has been a mess, it's falling out by the handfuls and I'm not entirely sure why. I haven't changed my diet or products to bring about such a change. I spied these new products from Matrix made especially for weak and damaged hair that is prone to falling out. They weren't cheap and I bought them on a whim so I'm really hoping they make a difference!

Matrix Biolage Fibrestrong Shampoo & Conditioner,
$29.00 each, Hairhouse Warehouse

I've fallen back in love with the Body Shop shower gels after not using them for ages. They recently had a 50% of clearance items as they had over stocked their warehouse. I didn't like any of the ranges that they had out, so I just chose two scents from their regular range. Strawberry is true to it's name and I can't help but sniff it every time I walk into my bathroom, it's very addictive. Atlas Mountain Rose is from a new range and is a very subtle rose scent.

The Body Shop Shower Gels in Strawberry &
Atlas Mountain Rose, $5.95 each

Last week I received my quarterly Priceline voucher in the mail, it was a decent amount, I tried not to look at the total I'd spent in 3 months - ouch, it was a very painful figure. I decided to be nice and allow my sister to spend most of it and only purchased one thing for myself, a Rimmel ScandalEYE's Eyeliner in Black. A basic shade, but I really like the formula of the one I have in 'Nude' and this is a great staple that I will get alot of use out of.

Rimmel ScandalEYES Eye Liner in Black, $9.95
My Beauty Diary Chocolate Truffle Sheet Mask, $1.50

The most adorable asian cosmetics store has opened up in my local shopping center and they are selling sheet masks of every brand and variety. I picked up a Chocolate Truffle one from my Beauty Diary as a bit of a treat.

The GKMBJ samples are for their Blonde Revitalising range, the SA from Hairhouse Warehouse included them with my purchase, but the funny thing is that my hair is black and I have no use for these.

Finally, I was in Harvery Norman and on my way out I had a quick look through their sale bins and spotted this Oral-B Vitality Toothbrush that was very heavily discounted, I grabbed it seeing as my current toothbrush is a bit worse for wear and I've wanted this particular brush for ages.

Oral-B Vitality Electric Toothbrush, RRP $41.99

I've also picked up quiet a few winter clothing items that I will try and include in a separate post.

Have you hauled anything recently?

April Favourites

I discovered a few new things this April, two of which I rediscovered in my stash and absolutely fell in love again with throughout the month.

Links to product description and retailers.

1. MAC Fix+, $27.00 RRP - MAC Cosmetics
2. REN Mayblossom T-zone Control Cleansing Gel, $38.00 - Mecca Cosmetica
3. MooGoo Rosehip Oil, $11.95 - Moo Goo
4. Burt's Bees Lemon Cuticle Butter, $14.95 - Burt's Bees
5. Nivea Lip Butter, $5.69 - Priceline

Fix+ has been great at refreshing my face before I apply makeup and to set my makeup after. I love that it diffuses any powderiness that can occur sometimes. Next up is my cleanser that I've been loving at the moment, you can read a review here. It makes my face will very fresh and clean, and most importantly has been a big help at keeping breakouts under control. Another product that's been great at controlling breakouts is MooGoo's rosehip oil. I tend to use this every second night, right after I get out of the shower. I'm guilty of taking extremely long and hot showers and sometimes my face tends to get a bit dry and red afterwards. The last two products are both in cute tin packaging. Lately my cuticles have been a little worse for wear and this cuticle creme from Burt's Bees has been a saviour in keeping them looking healthy. I think I received this in the very first LHI box which was almost 2 years ago and I've still barely made a dent! A recent blogger favourite, the Nivea Lip Butter's have also made their way into my favourites. I love this particular scent, more the vanilla rather than the macadamia side. They keep my lips soft and moisturised, what more could you ask for? :)

What were your favourites for April?

Empties #2

I've had this pile of empties collecting together since my previous Empties post. I've mean meaning to do it since March but it kept slipping my mind and I've finally gotten round to do it today so I can get rid of these empty products!

  • The Body Shop Shea Shower Cream - I bought this last winter and even thought its small it took ages to get through it as I kept switching to more lighter and fresher shower gels. It alright but I didn't find it more moisturising than other products.
Repurchase? Not really.
  • Soap & Glory Flake Away - I'm obsessed with scrub, it's not overly harsh yet it gets off the scaly skin in my dry spots. I've reviewed this previously here
Repurchase? Already have :)
  • Batiste Original Dry Shampoo - Just you average basic dry shampoo. It gets rid of excess oil but this particular one does leave a white caste in my dark hair.
Repurchase? I've got heaps of other ones to get through.
  • Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye Cream Sample - I depotted the sample sachet into a small pot and there was heaps inside! It has a very herbal smell, is very light but I didn't really see much of a difference in terms of dark circles or fine lines.
Repurchase? I've got heaps of other ones to get through.
    • Philosophy Hope in a Jar - When I first got this I absolutely fell in love with it, then I read a few different reviews from people about why they didn't like it, things like the scent and greasiness and after I awhile I began to notice the same things as well. I would probably only use it again when my skin is very dry during winter.
    Repurchase? Unsure, maybe during winter.
    • MooGoo Rosehip Oil - I bought ages ago when MooGoo first brought out their rose hip oil. This bottle was very leaky and I forgot about about for most of the year. It's gone off now so I'm throwing it out.
Repurchase? I've bought a new one recently and thankfully they've changed the bottle so it doesn't leak anymore.

    • Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner - It's a great liquid liner, so easy to use and nice dark black too. It lasted me about 5 months, too.
Repurchase? After I finish up four other liquid liners!
    • Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara - This is my HG mascara for thick black voluminous lashes. I bought this last February and I now the 'change your mascara every 3-6 months' rule but when you've paid $50 it's kind of hard to let go.
Repurchase? Not for awhile, I'm trying to find a cheaper dupe.
    • Maybelline The Falsie's Flared Mascara - I won this off Maybelline's website. Everyone seems to love this mascara but I just couldn't make it work for me at all. I dislike both the wand (it's too flimsy!) and the formula. I've tried this version and the original, just not a fan.
    Repurchase? Not a chance.
    • Clinique High Impact Mascara - I really like this mascara for a decent amount of volume. It's not my HG or anything but a nice product to have in your makeup kit.
    Repurchase? I haven't had a need to, there's always one in the GWP's :)
    • NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Sample - it was already dry-ish when the SA depotted some for me and dried up even more before I got to test it out properly. I'll have to get a decent sample next time.
    • MAC Face and Body Foundation Sample - I absolutely love this foundation, I've written about previously in my Favourites posts. This sample lasted me a long time (I don't wear foundation everyday) and I couldn't wait to purchase the full size.
    Repurchase? Again and again!

    • OPI Black Shatter - As you can see from the picture the Black Shatter has dried up completely and left these weird black pebble-y type things inside. I used this probably about 7 or 8 times during the 2 1/2 years I had for.
Repurchase? So many brands make a shatter/crackle topcoat now, so I won't be purchasing.
    • OPI RapidDry Top Coat - I picked this up from a chemist's discount bin for $5, which should have tipped me off. I'm sure it wasn't a fake but it certainly wasn't brand new either. It dried up in less than 6 months and became a gluggy mess. I liked it well enough though, it did make my nails dry super fast and leave a nice finish.
Repurchase? If I can find it for a reasonable price.

    • Priceline Round Cotton Pads - A staple product. Can't really say too much about them, they don't  irritate my eyes or leave fibres behind.
Repurchase? Yes, but I've bought Swisspers' ones this time around.
    • Venus & Olay cartridges - my favourite razor bars. I like the ease of having built in shave gel. These can get very expensive however, that's the only downside.
    Repurchase? Already have.

I'm fairly happy with the amount of products I've used since my last post. I think I'm going to start doing these Empties posts by lumping 2-3 months of products together because some months I hardly go through anything at all.

    Thank you for reading!
