Recently my skin has been acting up quiet a bit, its gone from severely dry and flakey to really oily with a lot of build up and congestion on my cheeks. My skin looked alright, but when I touched it I could feel the bumps and uneven areas. But even with all these extra oil my skin still felt dry in some places.
I decided to book in for a facial at the Pure Indulgence Salon, which is a branch of beauty therapy salons here in QLD.

My esthetician was the lovely Alison at the Garden City branch. Before the facial I had a short consultation where I told her my main concerns which were dehydration and excess oil. She then told viewed my face through a face mapping machine which showed all the oily areas of my face. Alison then told me that it instead of being dry my skin is now combination with some areas of dehydration.

After this initial consulation Alison decided that the best treatment for me would be the Pure Cleanse Facial which went for 40 mins. This treatment consisted of a Facial cleanse steam exfoliation extractions prescriptive mask & antibacterial high frequency.
The range that Alison chose to use on me was Yuva skincare, some basic background on the brand is:
- All Naturally Derived Ingredients
- Yuva's Products Contain
- No Mineral Oil
- No Propylene Glycol
- No Sulfates - Parabens
- No Artificial Colours
- No Artificial Fragrances
- Proudly Australian Made & Owned
- Against Animal Testing
The treatment room itself was very relaxing. There were beautiful aromatic scents wafting from the candles and the dimly lit light was a perfect environment for just unwinding and forgetting about everything else. I didn't take any pictures myself (completely slipped my mind), but you can visit this page here which has shows the rooms.
She started of with cleansing my face with which is a light cleansing oil that would give my skin a deep clean and remove all impurities without clogging my pores or stripping my skin.
Next was exfoliation, Alison warned beforehand that the exfoliation process would sting a bit and make me want to itch. I did experience those things but it was bearable.
After each step Alison used warm cloths to gently rinse and remove the products in preparation for the next steps.
Before my extraction she placed warm cloths all over my face and turned on the steam machine was 5-8 minutes to soften the follicle and prepare my skin. Alison also mentioned that the extraction would just feel like a bit of pressure and be somewhat uncomfortable, she promised she would be as gentle as she could. I've never had an extraction before but the pain wasn't bad at all like I was expecting.
Following the extraction Alison used light therapy system to 'zap' away an remaining bacteria from the extraction. This was a weird experience, it felt a warm and tingly and the zap was like an extremely minor current. Again, not too painful but something I wish that was over a bit sooner haha.
Before she put on the mask, Alison put on what felt like a very thin sheet of cloth and then layered the mask over that. Whilst the mask was working its magic I received a lovely head and neck message. The mask was then removed and finally I was treated to a mixture of serum and moisturiser to complete my facial.
Before leaving Alison recemmonded three products to me from the Yuva range which would be more suited to my combination skin. These were:

Yuva is Pure Indulgence's own skincare brand so of course they are obliged to try and sell their product. Instead of purchasing I asked for some samples of the product to take home and try out for a couple of weeks to see if I like them well enough to purchase. They are salon products so they aren't the most affordable skin care line out there.
The cost of the Pure Cleanse Facial is $75.00 and is available at all Pure Indulgence salons. If you live in QLD I would highly recommend visiting on of their salons and getting a treatment done. I throughly enjoyed my experience and I am already looking forward to visiting again!
NB: I apologise for the lack of photos in this post, I did not know whether I would be allowed to take photographs inside the salon and I also didn't plan ahead that I would blog about this.

Sounds like you had a wonderful experience. My favourite facial (I've had 2, lol) was with Aveda products..it was divine!
ReplyDeleteOoh an Aveda facial sounds amazing! Thanks for reading :)
DeleteI've had a few facials before, but I haven't been for a while! I'm not really a fan of extractions. :P
ReplyDeleteI think my favourite experience was either with Aveda (another vote for Aveda) or Sothys. :)
I really must make time to go again soon, I think my skin needs it!
Thanks for sharing about your experience. :)
The extraction process was interesting, I went to look it up on Youtube later on to see what was being done to me haha :P I wish I had an Aveda salon near me, would definitely go there.
DeleteWow, the face mapping sounds like something I ought to try out. I'm on a non-facial routine for about a year now and it hasn't been too bad. It's just home packs, scrubs and massages.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really interesting tool! It had a mirror inside too so you can see exactly what the aesthetician was talking about.
